Affinity Systems Honored by Microsoft and Wins Customer Award for High-Performance Computing

Affinity Systems Ltd., a recognized leader in software design and development, has won the global Microsoft 2006 Winning Customer Award for outstanding competitive efforts in High-Performance Computing (HPC). The company was chosen from an international field of top Microsoft technology partners for delivering market-leading solutions that highlight the benefits of working on the Microsoft-based platform. Affinity Systems received its award at this year’s Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Boston.

Awards were presented in several categories, with winners chosen from a pool of more than 2,400 entrants worldwide. Affinity Systems won this year’s award in high-performance computing for its implementation of a massively-parallel and high-performance application. The application is used by Brandimensions to provide corporate brand protection and market intelligence services based upon data mined from the Internet.

“Our solution uses sophisticated proprietary technology to automate the collection of relevant data essential for delivering valuable and actionable information,” said Leslie Goldsmith. “Using our Internet monitoring technology, Brandimensions detects, analyzes, and generates intelligence on millions of relevant comments about its clients’ products and services.”

At the core of the solution is a high-performance, multi-terabyte database using SQL Server™. The database holds more than 50 billion links mapped for 7 billion URLs and 180 million web sites. Close to 1 billion pages are fetched and analyzed by the system each month.
